Volunteers are needed Saturday, November 12, to assist with the Morgan Moore CCA Food Drive. Sign up at the table in the narthex or here. The food drive is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Albertsons, 1087 W. Main St., in Lewisville. Volunteers assist with greeting customers, handing out flyers and accepting food donations.
Donations of items for the food drive also are being collected. Refer to the collection list below for details.
The annual drive remembers Morgan Moore, who came to Vista Ridge UMC in 2005 with his wife, Audrey. Morgan never knew a stranger. He was in the mortgage banking business, until a series of major accidents began affecting his health. He was later diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. No longer able to work, Morgan began volunteering at CCA. He canvassed local grocery stores for food donations to assist in stocking the food pantry. He approached the church staff about a food drive and out of this request the Morgan Moore CCA Food Drive was born, assisting families with items to have a traditional Thanksgiving meal. After a courageous fight with this disease, Morgan passed away in July 2007. Vista Ridge UMC continues Morgan’s work with the annual food drive.
